The Invitation

Probably the most important multi level marketing business tip you can learn is the invitation. You already have a list of prospects, but you need to know how to actually invite them to see your business opportunity. The trick is not saying too much. If you do say too much, you will end up in what we call the Valley of Death (VOD). The VOD is the place where you try to explain the business over the phone and your friend (or family member or business contact or whomever) has no idea what the heck you’re talking about. They end up thinking you’re crazy and you will never get them to take a look at the opportunity.
Now do you really want to end up in the VOD??? I didn’t think so ….. So needless to say, one of the most important points about this multi level marketing business tip is Stay Out of the Valley of Death!

Multi Level Marketing Business Tip – Preparation

As we’ve talked about before in network marketing tips for beginners, you must set a specific schedule for making invitation phone calls. Your schedule is going to be unique to you, but you also need to think about who it is you’re calling. If you’re calling someone who works, lunch time or after the work day is probably best. If you’re calling a stay-at-home mom, you’re more likely to get her during the school day while the kids are gone than you will early while she’s trying to get the kids out the door or after school when she’s settling them in for homework and dinner.
After you’ve decided on a schedule to make your invitation phone calls, the next part of this multi level marketing business tip is to decide where you’re going to make the calls from. Make sure you won’t be disturbed and you won’t be disturbing anyone else.

Multi Level Marketing Business Tip – Invitation Script

In order for this multi level marketing business tip to be successful, it is important that you not stick on the phone too long, except maybe in the beginning to chit chat and catch up. Once you actually begin the invitation, you must have a plan for how you are going to get off the call quickly so you don’t venture into the valley of death.
Multi level marketing business tip – make up your excuse!
Your excuse could look like this – “I only have a minute before I have to get to another meeting, but ….” Or, “I’m just about to run out the door to pick the kids up, but I wanted to call to …..”
Make sure you have your excuse laid out before you make the phone call.
Now for the script. There are a few ways you can do this, but you must include 4 important points in your invitation script.
Multi level marketing business tip – the crucial 4:
  1. business opportunity / something I wanted to run by you / something interesting I came across
  2. may or may not be for you
  3. only / just need 20 minutes of your time
  4. two choices
So here’s how this goes together.
“Hi Jane! I know it’s been a while since we’ve spoken, but I only have a second before I need to run out to get the kids from the bus. I came across something really interesting and I wanted to get your thoughts on it. It may or may not be for you, but I just need about 20 minutes of your time. Is morning or afternoon better for you?”
Or it could look like this.
“Hi Jane! I’m on my way out the door, but I thought of you and wanted to make sure I got to you as soon as I could. I heard about this amazing business opportunity and I thought it’s something that’s really up your alley. I need about 20 minutes to go through it with you. Is tonight or tomorrow night better for you? It may or may not be for you, but I’d really love to get your opinion on it.”

Multi Level Marketing Business Tip – Handling Objections

If you’re going to successfully employ this multi level marketing business tip, you need to know how to handle objections.
While we would all love our prospects to simply give us a good time to get together with them, in reality, that’s not usually what happens. Jane will most likely say something like, “Really? What’s it about?”
Objection: What is this about?
Answer: “It’s really a visual thing, which is why I’d rather you see it for yourself. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “It’s a new business concept that you really need to see to understand it. Is A or B better for you?”
Objection: How much is this going to cost me?
Answer: “It’s not going to cost you anything to take a look at it. So leave your wallet at home. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “I’m not looking for someone to invest in the business, I’m looking for partners. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “The company is fully funded. I’m just looking for smart people like yourself to take a look at this. Is A or B better for you?”
Objection: Is this about sales?
Answer: “Why? Do you like sales?” (no matter what they answer ….) “Great, that’s why we need to meet! Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “I’m not looking for sales people. I’m looking for business partners. Is A or B better for you?”
Objection: This is one of THOSE companies, isn’t it?
Answer: “I don’t know what you mean by one of those companies, but I don’t think it’s what you think it is. Is A or B better for you?”
Objection: This is an MLM/network marketing/direct-selling, isn’t it?
Answer: You mean like microsoft or Walmart? (The truth of the matter is, all big name companies rely on a level of network marketing – word-of-mouth marketing. It’s just that all the proceeds from that marketing go back to the company where in an MLM, the company gives you some of the profit.)
Answer: “This is a new business concept, which is why we need to meet. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “I thought the exact same thing until I saw this business concept. I’d love to get your opinion on it. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “What do you know about MLMs?” (sales, recruiting, pyramid scheme) “This is not about any of those things. That’s why I need to meet with you. Is A or B better?”
Objection: This is one of those pyramid schemes, isn’t it?
Answer: “A pyramid scheme is illegal. This company is completely legitimate. Is A or B better for you?”
Answer: “Do you really think I’d be involved in something illegal?”
Answer: “Look, it may or may not be for you, but I really see the power of how this can change people’s lives. I’d love to give you the opportunity to do that for yourself.”
Answer: “I really respect your opinion and would love you to come take a look and tell me where the holes are in this opportunity.”
Answer: “If you could bring in some extra income without having to get another job, would you be interested?”

Multi Level Marketing Business Tip – Setting the Appointment

Once you have agreement, figure out a mutually agreeable time and place. Repeat the appointment time and place and follow up with an email or a text message. Make sure you send them a reminder the day before as well.
One multi level marketing business tip that works really well in terms of reminding them of the appointment is not posing a question. Don’t send something like this, “We’re still on for tomorrow, right?” Make your reminder assumptive. “I’ll get to the restaurant a little early to make sure we get a table. I’ll see you at x time!” Or, “When you get there, go in the front door and in the room to the right. I’ll see you tomorrow at x time!”

Multi Level Marketing Business Tip – Summary

Do not confuse the invitation with the presentation. That means do not give too much information on the phone. Include all 4 aspects in your invitation. Handle objections by addressing their objection briefly, then redirect back to the choice of time. And when you have the appointment, send them a reminder that assumes they are still coming.
Now that you know how to do the invitation, get your list out and start calling!

  2. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find
this matter to be really something which I think I would never understand.
It seems too complex and extremely broad for me.

I am looking forward for your next post, I'll try to get the hang of it!
